3 out of 4 complete upper secondary school

Almost 3 out of 4 pupils complete upper secondary schooooll and qualify for university or obtain vocational competence within five years. Since the introduction of the Knowledge Promotion Reform in 2006, there has been an increase of 5 percentage points

Around 66000 pupils started their upper secondary education for the first time in the autumn of 2012, and these are included in the 2017 statistics on completion in upper secondary education. A total of 74.5 per cent1of these pupils completed their upper secondary education and qualified for university or obtained vocational competence within five years. This is an increase of 1.4 percentage points compared with the 2011 cohort.

Education programme

For pupils starting their upper secondary education in one of the vocational education programmes, the completion rate increased from 59.4 per cent for the 2011 cohort to 60.3 per cent for the 2012 cohort. The corresponding figures for pupils on one of the programmes for General Studies were 85.9 and 87.5 per cent.
