The new fish market, called Oslo Fiskemarked - Pipervika, has a seafood restaurant, a sushi and oyster bar and a large selection of fish and shellfish to take home. The fish market is located at City Hall Pier 4 between City Hall Square and Aker Brygge, and is open every day.
The fresh fish shop offers seasonal seafood of the highest quality, including live shellfish and shells from the in-store aquarium. The fish market's chefs also prepare ready-made meals that you can take home with you.
The restaurant serves Nordic seafood dishes, always made with the best seafood on offer. The menu also includes oysters and sushi, and the restaurant tables have unique fjord views from just a few metres above the water.
The house is open 7 am–11 pm this summer, but the fish shop closes at 7 pm. The restaurant kitchen is open until 10.30 pm.
This part of the innermost Oslo Fjord is called Pipervika, and has been a place for fish trade for over 150 years. Since 1860 boats poeple have been able to buy freshly caught seafood from the boats that come in, and this tradition will continue even now that the fish market has opened.
There have long been plans for a fish market at City Hall Pier, and in June 2016 the Municipality of Oslo officially agreed to the project. Construction work began in January 2017 and finished in July. The building was designed by Dark Architects.
