Now the Oslo Gardermoen Airport in Norway is twice larger than it was before with the recently opened part which has been built for six years.
The value of building was 14 billion kroner, which is1.6 billion US dollars. Twenty-one new aircraft stands were added , as well as117,000 square meters of land and a brand new baggage rooms were added to the restructured airport.
"This will Norway`s competitivity at the international level. It is important for Norway to have a well-functioning unit such as Oslo airport. The excess will help with funding the rest of the air network all over Norway, " Doug Falk-Petersen said, CEO of airport operator Avinor, at the time of the official opening which was on Thursday.
"Norway depends on a main airport that would be well-operating, and now we have a large international airport that all people here can be proud of. This is a prestigious state project, opened on time and under the budget, "said Ketil Solvik-Olsen, Norwegian Minister of Transport and Communications.
From the moment of the Gardermoen airport opening in Oslo in 1998, the number of passengers has risen from 17 to 24 million a year. Airport capacity will be 32 million people per year when its new wing will be opened.
